Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician
Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT) is the NFPA standard for personnel required to undertake technical rescues in a swiftwater and flood environments. A three-day course that is the minimum training recommended for those who work alongside, in, or on moving water. The classroom session provides detailed knowledge of hydrology and hazards associated with moving water. The next two days are spent in moving water, learning skills including shallow water crossings, self-rescue and effective techniques for the rescue of others. Qualifies personnel to work in the "hot zone" in or on moving water. Standard NFPA 1670 Operations Level. An advanced course (SRTA) is also available which includes night operations and high angle rope solutions for water rescue. |
